Terms of Use

1. Early and experimental status
Metis is a personal product experiment, not a commercial service. It may change, break, or disappear at any time. I am building it with educators and offering it free while it is useful.
2. No guarantee that outputs are correct, complete, or appropriate
Metis uses AI to turn your description into a plan. AI can be wrong, incomplete, or miss important context. Do not treat anything Metis produces as authoritative.
3. You are responsible for reviewing outputs
You are the expert on your classroom. Read every plan carefully, check facts, and use your judgment before sharing or acting on anything Metis generates with students, families, or staff.
4. You are responsible for following your school or district policies
Your school or district may have rules about AI, student information, software use, or parent communication. It is up to you to follow them. Metis is not a replacement for your organization's approved tools or policies unless your organization says so.
5. Do not submit student PII or other sensitive information
Do not enter real student names, IDs, addresses, photos, disability labels, medical information, or anything else that could identify a student or family. Use initials or made-up examples. If a plan would require sensitive details to be useful, build it without Metis.
6. Acceptable use
Use Metis for lawful educational purposes. Do not use it to generate harmful, harassing, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or illegal content. Do not try to break the site, overload it, or scrape it. I may block misuse.
7. Intellectual property
What you write into Metis is yours. The plan Metis generates for you is also yours. I do not claim ownership of your inputs or outputs. You may use, edit, and share your plan as you wish.
8. Third-party AI and building tools
To generate a plan, your messages are sent to Anthropic's API. That happens under Anthropic's own terms and retention policies, not these terms. This site also uses PostHog for anonymous usage analytics; PostHog sets cookies. If you take a plan to another AI tool or builder — such as Claude, Gemini, Lovable, or Replit — their terms apply there. Metis is not responsible for those services.
9. Availability and changes to the service
Metis may go down, change, or shut down without notice. These terms may change too. The last updated date at the top of the page shows the current version.
10. Limitation of liability
Metis is free and comes with no warranty. I am not responsible for any harm or loss that comes from using it or acting on its plans. If a court limits that, the most I could owe is what you paid to use Metis in the year before the claim. Because Metis is free, that amount is zero dollars.
11. How to get in touch
Questions, concerns, or feedback? Use the contact form. I read every message and will respond as soon as I can.
